Abstract/Summary:
Nowadays the request of the energy and the environmental protection put forward thehigher request on t he engine for energy conservation and emission reduction. Torealize the engine downsize, the turbocharged engine becomes a big trend.Turbocharger is the core component of turbo technology and the flow in the turboaffects the efficiency of the turbocharger. So it is very necessary to learn more aboutthe flow field in the turbo. The computation of the turbo working under different engine speed and differentexhaust gas composition has been done based on the analysis of the flow field in theturbo in the domestic and abroad. All the work in this paper is done on the Ricardo E6single cylinder engine. Lots ofcalculations and communications with manufacturers have been done before theturbocharger is selected. The original model of the single cylinder engine is set up inthe AVL-Boost. At the same time external characteristic test is done on the RicardoE6single cylinder engine. Compare the test result with the calculation result andmake sure that the deviation is within2%. The comparison makes the original modelreliable. Then the turbocharged model is established upon t he original modelaccording to the parameters provided by the manufacturers. The thermodynamiccalculation is done using the AVL-Boost software. We can get the pressure, temperature and mass flow in the entrance of turbine. Set the parameters as theboundary conditions of the CFD calculation of the flow field in the turbine. The3Dmodel of turbine scroll is created in the Pro/e software. Then put the model intoGAMBIT software to mesh meshes and to create the boundaries. The simulation ofthe flow in the turbine under different engine operating conditions is done in theFLUENT software.Through the paper work we can conclude that it is feasible to carry on the simulationof the flow field in the turbine using the FLUENT software. Through the comparativeanalysis it is concluded that the preliminary relations between the volute efficiencyand the engine speed is set up. Also the influence that the thermodynamic propertiesof the engine exhaust gas make on the flow field is pointed out. These parameters canbe provided to the turbine for improving and optimizing.
