Air motion inside the cylinder of diesel plays an important role in the process of fuel spray and combustion, determines the economy, power output, and depresses exhaust emissions and combustion noise of the engine. The multidimensional simulation of the flow in cylinder can give economically the flow field information in details; show the effects of geometric parameters on the combustion performance. It can compare different schemes. If it can be used in diesel engine research, provide an effective research method in engine development.In this paper, the multidimensional numerical simulation is applied to the flow field inside cylinder of diesel engine with program modified from KIVA-3V.The interface program between the simulation program and professional drawing software is given. Two and three-dimensional graphics of the flow field in cylinder are drawn. Movement procedure of the flow field in cylinder is shown lively by animation provided.By simulating DI-diesel 135, conclusions were drawn as follows: Tangential intake pipe can product air motion stronger than ordinary intake pipe, because it had a better-oriented effect on intake air. If rev was high, in-cylinder maximum velocity and swirl, squish movement will be increased. The geometry of chamber plays an important role in in-cylinder airflow. The contracted throat chamber can produce more exquisite in-cylinder airflow than direct throat chamber.
