After summarizing relevant literatures, short circuit withstand ability oftransformer are studied deeply in the thesis, referential rules are provided to improveabilities for transformer winding to withstand short-circuit.The significance and purpose of the calculation of short-circuit strength of thelarge power transformers are introduced in the thesis, and the development of thewinding short-circuit strength problem are discussed. The three windings of thetransformer short-circuit current are studied and the maximum short-circuit current isobtained. In the part of the short circuit electromotive force,the short-circuit force aredynamic force actually, then the short circuit electromotive force of powertransformer windings is analyzed and the damage mode of the power transformerwindings under short circuit condition is introduced. In the part of the evaluation ofthe winding short-circuit strength, the calculate method of the axial mechanicalstability and the radial mechanical stability force is introduced,and the radialmechanical stability for the inner winding is cheeked. The methods and measures toimprove short circuit to withstand capability of power transformer were proposed inrespects of technique, structure, and design, which have engineering achievement.The causes of early low loss transformer’s low short-circuit strength are analyzed, thedevelopment and manufacturing of the SSZ10-50000/110power transformer areintroduced and the stability is checked by using this paper’s method.
