Public buildings and their energy consumption are more and more w ith thedevelopment of economy. The research of public buildings energy-savingpotential can guild the design and renovation of buildings to make a cont ributionto energy conservation and emission reduction for our country.Energy simulation method used in this thesis. Applying building energyconsumption simulation tool eQUEST to simulate a building and new model thathas applied energy efficient measures annual energy consumption. Comparingthem and getting the energy-saving potential of the building. Select three1990s’typical public buildings (shopping mall, hotel, office building) in Shanghai asresearch objects. First, modeling and calibrating for t he three buildings to getthree baseline models. Then adding some energy efficient measures to baselinemodels and getting their energy-saving effects with life-cycle-cost analysismethod to sort out the compatible measures. These compatible measurescombined effects are the energy-saving potential of each baseline model. VAVsystem, heating and cooling sources controlled by temperature, energy-savinglighting, other equipment energy-saving, pump variable frequency these energyefficient measures energy-saving effects are remarkable and should be highlypreferred. Shopping mall A’s, hotel B’s and office building C’s energy savingsare30.14%,29.43and32.43separately by using ordinary measures. After usingsolar energy measures their energy savings turn into62.25%,59.97%,43.27%.Energy saving effects are more notable, however the huge capital investment leadto payback periods increase three times, life-cycle-cost net savings greatlyreduced, so the solar measures are inappropriate widely applied. The difference between different types of public buildings energyconsumption is big, and even for the same type of public building energyconsumption has no unified rules at all. This thesis provides a simple andeconomical method that is building energy simulation which study buildingsindividually is significant for public buildings energy-saving practicalapplication.
