The Pedestrian Level Interface Of Office Area In The Second District Of Shanghai Expo

The2010Shanghai Expo has been over for2years. The theme of Shanghai Expois “better city, better life”, which comes up with the concept of “city”. This conceptemphasis the study of the city construction, meanwhile put the post-use of the ExpoDistrict into the whole consideration of the Shanghai Expo. That is to say, the post-useof the Shanghai Expo would of course be the model of the future development andupdate of the cities. To be concluded, the post-use of the Shanghai Expo is reallyimportant.The2ndDistrict of Shanghai Expo in Post-use Design is to be the head office of13central enterprises, and it means that the Second District would be the CBD. The currentsituation of Beijing CBD, especially the head offices of some central enterprises, theproblem of “dead city” is serious. The reason lies in the lack of open city function.All the buildings have to be located on earth. The one or more floors whichconnect the building with the earth have more interact with urban public space. They arepart and parcel of that elite body of urban public space. This paper is to study the one ormore floors, or we can call them The Pedestrian Level Interface and to use the studyto make the detail design of the pedestrian level interface of the2nddistrict of thepost-use of the Shanghai Expo.Authorparticipated in the design and coordinate of the project of the2nddistrictproject in Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design&Research. This paper wouldbase on the mid-term of the project, in the view of the pedestrian level interface, andthen get the detail design of the pedestrian level interface of the2nddistrict of post-useof Shanghai Expo.
