Evaporative air cooler is worthy to research extensively and widely used for itshigher efficient of heat transfer and less water consumption. But there is nogenerally accepted design software available for evaporative air cooler at home and abroad, oneof the important reasons is that the air temperature and humidity can not get to knowaccurately, consequently the water content in air and evaporating quantity in thewhole process of heat transfer can not be known yet.According to the reversed flow characteristic of spraying water and air in the rainzone of cooler, a measure device was designed to measure water temperature, airtemperature and humidity. The laboratory and industrial field experiments showedthat the device can effectively separate water and air, accurately measure thetemperatures and humidity. So the device could be a helpful tool for experimentalstudy of out pipe heat and mass transfer for evaporative air cooler.Referenced the software HTRI, combined with the part function of AspenExchanger Design&Rating, a program to design the evaporative air cooler wasdeveloped with VB.net to help the designer accomplish the design of evaporative aircooler accuratively and effectively. Using the function of Aspentech properties, thephysical property parameters of gas-liquid fluid mixture can be determined, and canbe input the design process as necessary conditions.In the software development process, segmentation calculation methods with phasechange and no phase change in the pipe of the cooler were studied, the fitting relationof the heat and mass transfer coefficient was investigated with the reference of someexisting equations.Finally, according to an actual evaporative air cooler, in a different amount ofconditions of air volume and the different spray quantity, the program is tested anddebugged.
