With the development of Industrial Revolution, global environment pollution and thedisruption of ecological balance pose threat to people’s living. It forces human to rethinkprofoundly. Therefore, it is necessary to study eco-environment in history. From theperspective of environmental history, it is of great significance to explore the distributionof animals and plants, and the influences made by human activities, as animals and plantsis the most active part among eco-environmental system.During Qin-Han Period, forests in the northern part had almost died out due tohuman activities. Only in a few courts, animal farms, mausoleums and mountain area, could we see forests. The eco-environment of Juyan was fragile. For the reason ofmilitary, Emperor made many people in central plains to border area. This lead theeco-environment of Juyan to be more serious damage. As the southern part had arelatively small population, the exploitation of forests there had less effect on animals andplants.Living space for wild animals was reducing during Qin-Han Period. Studying thedistribution of wild elephants, rhinoceros, as well as peacocks, parrots, and Yangtzealligators, etc. can further the deduction of the relationship between eco-environment andhuman. Animal husbandry, especially large-scale cultivation of horses, cows and sheep, got a full development in border areas in Zhong-Yuan Dynasty and some minority regions.Fishing mainly involves inshore fishing and aquaculture. People were getting to knowand eat more kinds of fish. courts, animal farms, Emperor mausoleums and privategardens protected animals and plants objectively.People in Qin-Han Period had already had the notion of protecting and reforest, which plays an important role in the regeneration of vegetation. This was also a reflectionthat people’s, especially the rulers’ ecological consciousness had improved.According to the varying distribution of some crop(such as millet, wheat, soybean, rice and so on), economic crops and representative animals, we could infer the climate change then.
