Pyridine N-oxide complexes can not only be used as catalysts, oxidizing agents,adsorbents, chelating agents, but also serve as coordination ligands that can bind metal ions toform different metal complexes, which be applied in the field of pesticides/pharmaceuticalsand functional molecular materials. Meanwhile, the two oxygen atoms of β-diketones cancoordinate with transition metals, forming various complexes with different properties.Based on previous research, four new β-diketone pyridine N-oxide compounds weredesigned and successfully synthesized in this thesis, namely1-(4-pyridyl N-oxide)-1,3-butanedione (A),1-(3-pyridyl N-oxide)-1,3-butanedione (D),1-phenyl-3-(4-pyridyl N-oxide)-1,3-propanedione (F) and1-phenyl-3-(3-pyridyl N-oxide)-1,3-propanedione (H). Theirsynthesis, separation and purification conditions were explored in details, and suitableexperimental conditions were obtained. The structure of these new compounds was confirmedby~1H NMR and MS.Furthermore, three novel metal complexes with one-dimensional (1D) structure weresuccessfully constructed by combining these β-diketone pyridine N-oxides with Cu2+or Zn2+ions, the influence of the position of pyridine-N-oxide on the final1D chain was furtherdiscussed and analyzing the crystallographic data of three complexes.
