Study On The Spinning Processing Of Refined Flax Fiber

With the more and more attention paid for the pollution on environment, the natural bast fibers are getting more and more application because of their environment-friendly and healthy property. Meanwhile, the fabrics made by bast fibers are popular because of their natural look and unique handle. In all of the bast fibers, flax has better property and finer count, it is called "soft gold of bast fiber". But with its characteristics and traditional processing (wet spinning processing), the application and development is limited.In this study, the refined flax fiber was used to produce pure and blended yarn in cotton spinning system. After the test and analysis on the refined flax fiber properties, the pre-processing was employed before spinning processing, the pre-processing was:oiling-aging (24hours)-opening. Then, the fiber was used in cotton spinning procedures as:opening and cleaning-carding-drawing-combing-drawing-roving-ring spinning-winding. With the modification on the processing parameters, the pure flax yarn and blended yarn with required quality were produced, that means, the refined flax fiber can be processed in cotton spinning system, and the resultant yarns can be used for knitting, which widen the application of flax yarn.The processing of refined flax fiber in cotton spinning system not only for improving the yarn quality, but also for shortening the procedures and decreasing the cost of production, which means a bright future of its application.
