In the processing of a variety of internal and external geometric surface, broaching processing methods were commonly used. Broaching is one-time formingprocess, so the efficiency is very high, and the processing precision is high, so it is used widely; But the manufacturing process of broach is complex, so the cost is high. Aiming at the complicated structure and design of broach the long cycle characteristics, using modern design method to shorten the design time, and improve the design accuracy, so as to improve economic benefit. The main researchcontents of this paper are:(1)Based on the development situation of both here and abroad, analysis of the current development situation of the broach at home and abroad,discussesthe development status of CAM technology at home and abroad and applicationof finite element method in the simulation of cutting.(2) Analysis of round broach and structural characteristics, based on designprinciples of broach, through reasonable selection of broaching method, calculating the rise per tooth, cutting allowance, pitch, rake relief angle and other parameters, and through the steps of checking broach strength completed the design of the round hole broach.(3)Founding three dimensional solid models of round broach with CAD software, and on the basis of this, setting up a broach broaching finite element simulation model; using the principles of statistics and combining with software, rakeangle、relief angle and rise per teeth of the roughing tooth is optimized, and provide a theoretical basis for the stress, improved design broach broach structure.(4) On the basis of UG NX software platform, using Visual Basic6.0technologies and UG/Open GRIP technology for secondary development,standardization broaches design databases, the establishment of a databas e querycalculation hole broaches graphical interface to build the windows executableprograms and UG’s data communication link, through the process called UG internalfunction method to achieve a hole broach parametric modeling and engineeringdrawings drawing functions. Simplifies the design process broaches modeling,mapping step, shortening the hole broaches design development time. The research work in this paper provides a theoretical basis for the optimization of round broach, and realizes parametric design broach; It can also be reference for other tool design optimization.
