TPI, as a new materials, with properties of low rolling resistance, low heat generation, excellent wear resistance and dynamic fatigue properties. It is reduce vehicle fuel consumption by about2.5%at speed100km/H, but TPI crystalline at room temperature, it processing performance worse, so that restricted the range of its application. ETPI synthesised by aqueous suspension, introduction of the polarity of the epoxy group in the TPI molecular chain, and reduced the content of crystallization, moreover, with have green synthesis process, it is expected to become a new type rubber used in high-performance tire after TPI. This paper studied the structure and properties of ETPI with different epoxy content, raw rubber, vulcanizates and blends of ETPI with NR.Firstly, studied the structure and properties of ETPI raw rubber synthesised by aqueous suspension.using polarizing microscopy (POM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) observe the phase structure, it is obtained that ETPI have two-phase structure, epoxidized part is the island phase, unepoxidized part is marine phase. By calculat the solubility parameter, it confirms the phase separation is more obvious with epoxy content increasing. Also studied the basic processing performance and physical mechanical properties of ETPI raw rubber, the result is mastication temperature is gradually increased with the epoxy content increased, at the same time, the density increasesed, when the hardness, tensile strength and tear strength is reduced. Aging properties in the mastication process is determinated of the gel content and FTIR characterization, it is indicated that produce gel in the mastication process and have no aging phenomenon inl1min.Secondly, morphology, curing characteristics, mechanical, aging and dynamic properties of vulcanization of epoxidized trans polyisoprene with different epoxy content were investigated, ETPI were prepared by aqueous suspension method and the vulcanizates were prepared without carbon black reinforcement. From scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs, it is obtained that vulcanizates of ETPI was two phase system. DSC shows that the residual crystallization reduced with increased of epoxy content. The induction period of cure gradually shortened, when tensile strength, elongation at break, hardness, tear strength and aging resistance decreased with the increase of epoxy content, But the wear resistance gradually increased. The results of rebound values at23℃and70℃decreased indicate that damping capacity and wet resistance performance increased, but at the same time rolling resistance increased; DMA tests further show that wet resistance performance enhanced, damping capacity meliorate, but rolling resistance increased with the increase of epoxy content.Thirdly, the effect of epoxy content of ETPI on curing characteristics mechanical properties, aging properties, fatigue performance and dynamic properties of ETPI/NR (mass ratio is15/85) blends were investigated. The results of mechanical testing indicate that tensile strength and tear strength decreased with the increase of epoxy content, but the modulus at100%and300%gradually increased, aging resistance changed for the better. When epoxy content is less than20%, vulcanizate of ETPI/NR blends have good mechanical properties and dynamic fatigue performance which close to TPI/NR blend with excellent fatigue properties. The fatigue performance is significantly reduced when epoxy content is higher than20%. DMA and RPA tests further show that wet resistance performance and rolling resistance increase with the increase of epoxy content.
