Silicon carbide materials have many excellent properties, and they are widelyused in mechanical manufacturing, electronics, aerospace, military and other fields.Silicon carbide’s hardness is only lower than diamond. It is widely used as abrasivematerial in China, such as, non-ferrous metals grinding and miniature bearingssupergrinding. Besides, silicon carbide is also used as fireproofing material, oxygenscavenger, wear resistance and high-temperature parts. With the wide application ofsilicon carbide material in various fields, promot the research on the processingmore and more deep-going in the field of academic and business. During processingof silicon carbide, processing parameters directly affects the cost and the quality, so itis very important to optimize the process parameters.In this paper, the experimental research on grinding on silicon carbide plummerhelps find out several important factors that have influence on grinding head abrasionand surface roughness, and optimize the grinding parameters to get a set of bestparameters. First, the silicon carbide plummer should be analyzed. Then according toexperience and theory in processing, grinding head used in grinding and tooling isdesigned, and a reasonable process is chosen. Then, based on the SPSS statisticalsoftware, a set of orthogonal test is set up with the grinding head plating grain size、feed rate, feed, spindle speed as the influence factors and the number of grindinghead and surface roughness as test indexes. And a comparative test with glassceramics as material is set up; Optimize single index factor of silicon carbide andmicrocrystalline glass plummer with variance analysis, and compare parameters andindicators of the two materials. Finally, based on the gray degree theory, parametersof dual indicators are optimized, a set of best process parameters will be found out,and optimized test parameters will be verified.Through the test, the optimizedparameters guarantee the processing quality and reduce the number of grinding head.
