In recent years, the rapid development of China’s machine tool industry has become the focus of the world machine tool market. However, the number of ordinary machine tools still accounts for vast majority of the total in China, which can not meet the need of the current market. With the continual progress of precision and ultra-precision technology, it has become an inevitable trend to conduct numerical control transformation for general machine tools. The numerical transformation for ordinary machine tools with the function of grinding will makes more enterprises that put in less investment to meet the more requirements of the market.The present dissertation aims to study the design and the transformation of the original CM6126machine on its mechanical and numerical control parts which makes it to become the numerical machine tool with the function of grinding. The study is carried out as follows:Firstly, use the existing machine tool bed to reform design the mechanical transmission of machine tools. Mainly include the selection of the guide rail, the calculation and selection of the horizontal and vertical screw, and the calculation and selection of the horizontal and vertical servo motor.Secondly, to finish the design of the grinding wheel frame structure. Mainly include the uncertainty optimization theory to optimize the accuracy of the sand wheel rotation. The calculation and selection of the grinding wheel drive motor, the calculation and selection of the grinding wheel’s other parts.Thirdly, use CATIA, the three-dimensional modeling software to conduct the major parts and an overall modeling for machine tools. Resorting to a software ANSYS for stress analysis of the grinding wheel spindle, and to have a modal analysis of the machine tool bed, the carriage and the whole machine tool.Fourthly, choose the computer numerical control system of the machine tool, PLC, position control unit, touching screen and servo driver to render system component diagram and machine automatic cycle work flowchart.
