Rubber rolls are the most important and the easiliest damaged parts used for transporting cold rolled sheet in tin plating unit. In tin plating unit, rubber rolls are used as the drying rolls, bridle rolls, pinch rolls, sink rolls and so on, and they must endure extrusion, high temperature, acid liquor and lye continuously in different processes, finally, heavy wear, cracking and corrosion appear on the surface of rolls under the effects of physics and chemistry. However, the quality of tin plating sheets will be affected by the quality of rolls, and rubber particles dropped from rolls will stay on the sheets’surface where can’t be tin plated well. This research begins from failure rolls of unit, observe the rolls’surface topography, and analyze their constituents by IR, and find the failure causes. Moreover, use ABAQUS to analyze surface stress distribution of the rolls in the process of operation, and to study how much strength rolls need when making a new roll formula. Then prepare a new kind of rubber formula, according to the research of vulcanization technology and rubber formula. And in order to verify whether the new kind formula roll meets the using requirement of tin plating unit, design and manufacture a wear device which can imitate working conditions of tin plating unit for rolls, and make some roll samples for the wear test. According to the research of the above process, the aim of this paper is to develop some new kinds of high strength and high corrosion resistance rubber formula, and make reliable roll preparation process,which can extend the life of rolls and improve the surface quality of tinning sheets.
