Improvement On Production Logistic System Of H Co.Ltd’s Casting Workshop

The performance of the production logistics will directly affect the logistics efficiencyand the profit of the company. Based on the evaluation of the status quo of the foundry incompany H, this paper presents some ideas for the reconstruction of the production logisticsfor company H, and provides a reasonable proposal for high effective production logistics inmanufacturing.Going through the whole process of the production logistics in the foundry of companyH, which is based upon the related logistics theories, the author found out the reasons for thelow efficiency. There are the lack of the management of production logistics, unreasonableplanning, and the inefficient transportation of the production material.To solve the problems, some suggestions for the improvement are offered. First, thefoundry can establish a production logistics center and clarify the function of it in order tosmooth the process. Second, plan systematically and arrange everything properly afteranalyzing the business characteristics. Third, invest in advanced transportation. Last but notleast, to make the logistics process go smoothly, choose the best route, shorten the life cycleand lower the cost, the foundry is suggested to rearrange the layout and redesign the route.The author chooses a tool called SLP to analyze the performance of the foundry incompany H after redesigning the layout. There are two newly built plants in the south district,which are Plant5and Plant9. In redesign, there are some positional changes. The foundrymoves to Plant9and the moulds warehouse moves to Plant5. Moreover, an overheadconveyor system is built between electroplating shop and assembling workshop. At themeantime, the products warehouse is reorganized. An auxiliary material storeroom is set up inthe warehouse. All these changes contribute to a shorter transportation route, less wastefulduplication of work and higher efficiency. The former transportation distant is3120meters,while the distant is1060meters now. The whole transport route is reduced almost300%.According to the research of the transportation system and the data of the volume of goodsflow, company H decides to use pallets instead of the crate. The pallets can be lifted andmoved from the products warehouse to the material warehouse by using a forklift truck andthere is no need to send it back. The new transportation route and method reduce thetransportation frequency, improve the performance and bring economic benefits.In conclusion, the reconstruction of the logistics system in the manufacturing plant haspositive effect in company H and can be recommended to other companies.
