In order to increase the gas liquid separation efficiency of the wet process, the wetvibrating grid separator is used as vibrating demister. Its separation mechanisms is analyzed andverified by the separation efficiency experiment. The pressure loss experiment is also conductedon. The separation mechanism model of the single vibrating wire is established based on thetheory of fiber filter. The main separation mechanisms for the single vibrating wire are inertialimpaction and interception. Therefore, the overall mist separation efficiency of the multiplegrids can be developed theoretically by the separation efficiency of the single wire.As the median diameter of the spray is an important requirement in the separationefficiency experiment, a new kind of gas-liquid two phase rotation flow nozzle is developed toprovide the spray with different median diameter. The atomized droplet size is measured bywinner313Spray Laser Particle Size Analyzer in the laboratory condition. The experimentaldata show that the relation of the spray median diameter and the gas-liquid ratio follows thepower function. The separation efficiency experiments on the vibrating grid demister with0.2mm wires indiameter are also carried on to analyze the effects of the gas velocity, the grid rows, and thewire distance under the laboratory condition. The gas velocity has less effect on the separationefficiency in the range of3~5m/s. The separation efficiency goes up very quickly when the gridrows are increased, or the wire distance is reduced.Under the laboratory conditions, when using the vibration wire of3mm wire distance, thepressure loss of the demister is very small with low energy consumption. When using thevibration wire of5mm wire distance, the pressure loss sharply increases, and this increasebasically follows the linear rule. And the pressure loss increases linearly when the gas velocityincreases. The research has provided the basis for the wet vibrating grid separator design andapplication.
