Tailing dam piled up by mining engineering waste is a dangerous source complex of env-ironment and safety. It is liable to accident because it long-term exposures to physical environ-ment and is affected by chemical solution, gravity, seepage effect, temperature and other aspects.As component stuff of tailing dam, tailing sand is worthy of study on its basic property. In thispaper, tailing sand is soaked for seven days by artificial tailing slurry. By experimental method,tailing sand coacted by chemistry, stress, seepage is studied on its basic property. This paperconsists:By experiment study on the basic physics property of tailing sand in the environment ofwater chemistry, it comes to some conclusions: specific gravity of tailing sand soaked by acid-based solution drops6.9%at largest than original tailing sand; water ratio increases7.1%; drydensity increases46.5%.Using my own consolidation penetration device, consolidation compressibility experimentand consolidation penetration experiment are taken on tailing sand, it comes to several conclu-sions: void ratio decreases fast and then slow, at last steady, decrease extent can reach30.1%,and void ratio transformation accords with "distilled water>alkalisolution>acid solution"; comp-ressibility coefficient of sailing sand soaked by acid solution increases by degrees with the pHlevel of the solution, differs0.126at most, modulus of compression decreases by degrees withconcentration; compressibility coefficient of sailing sand soaked by alkali solution decreases bydegrees with the pH level of the solution, differs0.08at most, modulus of compression increasesa little; permeability of tailing sand decreases with the increase of alkalinity or acidity and thestress of consolidation, and the stress of consolidation affects the coefficient of permeability a lot,when the stress of consolidation increases a level, the coefficient of permeability of tailing sanddecreases a lot. The coefficient of permeability of tailing sand soaked in acid-based solution sh-ows different monotonicities in024h; in024h, the coefficient of permeability of tailing sandsoaked in acid-based solution all decrease fast;after48h, the coefficient of permeability is steady.By experimental study on absorption characteristics of different heavy metal ions, it comesto several conclusions: tailing sand absorbs heavy metal ions selectively; adsorption strength inc-reases along with the increase of solution concentration, consolidation pressure, pH level; adsor-ption speed increase along with the increase of heavy metal concentration, consolidation pres-sure. As a result, the increase of consolidation pressure and pH level can decrease the run ofheavy metal ion and protect the environment of downstream.
