A new method of carbon black producing was introduced in this thesis. Hazard research on main chemical materials (raw material, product and by-product), and preliminary safety analysis on production units (reactor, feedstock tank area, utilities and so on) were studied. Based on the result of this research, I find the reactor, main unit filter, and gas pressurization station units contain coal gas and tail gas, which may cause fire, explosion, poisoning and choke accidents. The feedstock tank unit stores a lot of carbon black oil and anthracene oil, so the fire risk is very high. Dow chemical index method and ICl Mond index method were used to make a quantitative analysis for the reactor due to its advantage on risk than others. Besides that, I use Dow chemical index method and pool fire mode to do quantitative analysis for feedstock tank unit. The hemisphere fiddusion mode was used to describe tail gas intoxication, and UVCE-TNT equivalent method was used to assess tail gas leakage explosion accident. Compared the Dow chemical index of reactor and feedstock tank unit, I find the reactor’s risk is higher than feedstock tank unit. It proves the result of preliminary safety analysis is correct. These results provide necessary theoretical basis for the plant’s safety work. It also helps this plant to work out emergency response plan of fire, explosion, poisoning and choke accidents.
