Coal mine production safety has always been a prominent issue in our country. In recentyears, our country pay increasing emphasis on mine safety, but accidents still occur. Accordingto statistics, in2012, there are more than80large and small accidents, and flooding accidentgas explosion rank first. After the accident, the ground staff can not pinpoint positioning of theminers precisely, and it has brought great inconvenience to the rescue, and seriouslyendangered the lives of miners safety and economic benefits of the coal mines. Today, China’scoal mining industry is working toward the intelligent direction. Wireless communicationtechnology is increasingly used in coal mine production.Under this background, the paperdesign a underground mine personnel tracking system.In this paper, the underground mine personnel tracking system use ZigBee technologywith low complexity, low power, low cost and stability. The system set up undergroundwireless communication network automatically to realize information communication betweenZigBee end mobile node ZigBee router and ZigBee coordinator is realized in order to get theterminal location information.The paper compare the existing localization algorithms, then determine use RSSI rangingalgorithm and Trilateral positioning method, and modify the location data to improve thepositioning accuracy in order to achieve the positioning of the miners. Then, use GIStechnology to draw an electronic map of the underground tunnel, combine the the downholeinformation with the electronic map to realize the real-time display of the spatial location ofunderground personnel in the roadway electronic map. Lastly, LabVIEW software as platform,the paper develope a set of coal mine personnel positioning and management software, torealize the mine personnel and equipment information management, personnel track playbackand real-time tracking and other functions.The system not only can track and locate miners, while ensuring that the ground controlroom keep abreast of the situation of the underground, enables managers to master the locationof miners, facilitate underground personnel scheduling assignment to protect two-waycommunication and rescue in case of disaster, but also can provide a number of downholetemperature and humidity information, historical information recording and real-timerecording of statistical reports.
