| Outdoor sports as one of the important leisure activities after work has been undergoing a fast development in recent years, resulting in a flourishing outdoor sportswear industry as well. However, theoretical researches on the design and application of outdoor sportswear are still in a preliminary stage in China, most of which are only copying the Western designs following a relatively conservative model in brand development.With regards to this situation, this paper is dedicated to a comprehensive research on the design and application of outdoor sportswear, and can be divided into the following five parts. Firstly, it will introduce the background, contents, and methodology for the research so as to prepare for further detailed analysis of the research subject. Secondly, it will describe the origin, concept, categories and history development of outdoor sports and outdoor sportswear. Thirdly, it will introduce the relevant research on the market and consumers of outdoor sportswear that has been done to truly understand the consumer needs. Fourthly, based on the three elements of costume design, the paper will give a full analysis on the application modes and future development trends of styles, details, colors, patterns, fabrics and accessories of outdoor sportswear. Lastly, it will have a detailed analysis on the apparel products of world-renowned outdoor brands, make a bold predication about the future development of Chinese outdoor sportswear brands and propose concrete implementation recommendations for the enhancement and optimization of their brands. It is hoped that this paper can provide a microscopic guidance for the design and development of the domestic outdoor sportswear brands as well as a useful reference for them to improve brand building and promote their brand philosophy by complementing to the current imperfect theories on outdoor sportswear design.This paper builds its theory on analysis on large numbers of graphics and data as well as profound market investigation which has been done through various research methods including field investigation, questionnaires, one-to-one interview etc. to get a full picture about outdoor sportswear market and the basic needs of its customers. The research data and relevant research findings hold relative strong practicability and theoretical reference value. This paper has made the stylishness and aesthetics of outdoor sportswear as the research focuses for the first time and made a comprehensive analysis and summary on the design elements of outdoor sportswear. It also proposes that the future design and application of outdoor sportswear should be stylish, colorful, light-weighted, and serving the needs of common people with affordable prices. |
