With the development of science and technology, when selecting and using the tool handles, people not only focus on function, but also pay more attention to grip comfort gradually. Comfort becomes a key design point gradually. When evaluating grip comfort of the tool handles, the pressure distribution of the hand surface is an important index for the comfort evaluation.This paper started from the pressure distribution of main factors on comfort research and then established an evaluation model of grip comfort of the tool handles which could quantitatively evaluate grip comfort and give designers a certain reference value when designing tool handles. The main study included:(1)Firstly, I analyzed and studied hand areas from three aspects:the hand static anatomy structure; under the handheld state, the change of the anatomy structures; partition pressure comfort. Afterwards, I knew it was important that hand should be divided into different regions.(2)Then I did some grip experiments and processed results. According to the experimental results, the hand was divided into19parts. I took a variety of ways (such as questionnaire, analyzing physiological characteristic of the hand, etc.) to research subjective and objective comfort indexes of the hand areas and established the evaluation method of area comfort.(3)Combined with the comfort indexes, I used a HF-500electronic force gauge and its test system to make pressure tests for each part of the hand. Then I obtained pressure sensitivity of different hand regions and used ABAQUS to simulate these tests. Through analyzing the experiment results and the simulation results, I obtained pressure comfort threshold of the hand different regions.(4) I analyzed and researched the comfort weight of the hand different areas. I combined the evaluation method of area comfort with pressure comfort threshold of the hand different regions and then established the evaluation model of grip comfort. Finally I evaluated grip comfort of some typical handles and researched the relationship between virtual comfort and subjective comfort.
