China has become the big country in mining mineral resources of metal and nonmetal, whose exploitation and utilization was an important pillar of our country’s social economic development. With the growing of intensity and scale in resource exploitation, the security issues have become increasingly prominent. As the restriction of mining technical condition, mining cost, technical equipment, economic benefit and other factors, most metal and nonmetal mines used open stope method in mining in China. While recovery the resources, it left a lot of untreated goaf, which hid different degree of security issues in the most mines.Based on the project in Panluo iron mine, the thesis mainly studied on the discontinuous and complicated group goaf. Site works as engineering geology, shape of the goaf and so on were surveyed on the basis of deeply analyzing the technical data in mining and consulting, retrievalling the related literature. The mechanical parameters of goaf surrounding rock were indoor tested by digital and rigid rock mechanics testing machine MTS. Then the rock quality was evaluated and engineering classified for different rock mass properties by RQD index method, RMR grading method and Q value method. In additional, a3D view model for the goaf and surface was established. With the Barton analysis method for "equivalent size" limit span and the Mathews graphic method for stability, the stability of the goaf roof was analyzed and calculated from limit span and exposed area. Through2D elastic-plastic FEM numerical simulation, the stress, displacement, size and distribution condition of plastic area in goaf surrounding rock. Comprehensively considering the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation results, the stabilities of different goaf were separately analyzed and evaluated. According to the stability and burial conditions of different goaf, through calculated analysis and engineering analogy, different treatment schemes such as digging filling patio from the surface, filling goaf with the waste, constructing resistant shockwave wall and airtight wall, and so on, which were proposed pertinently. It led to meet the practical conditions that it forbad the surface’s collapse and the waste rock was too little. The schemes are feasible in technology, reasonable in economy.The research results were successfully applied in practical mining for goafs comprehensive treatment and safety management in Panluo iron mine, which achieved good practical effects. As a result, they provide technical support for safely and efficiently mining mineral resources in mine. At the same time, they also provide reliable technical reference for the similar mines to solve the safety problems of goaf.
