Submarine plough trench cutter is a kind of underwater machinery used as trenching andlaying for pipeline in the benthal. It’s widely used in submarine oil-and-gas pipelineprotection engineering to protect submarine pipeline. This subject originated from the project“The Research on Trenching Technology and Equipment for Hard Clay” of Offshore OilEngineering Corp. The purpose of the project is to design and develop the submarine ploughtrench cutter with independent intellectual property rights.Firstly, this paper introduced the methods of submarine trenching and the overseas anddomestic research status of trenching machine. The adams Virtual prototype of the completemachine was built according to the submarine plough trench cutter’s working principle anddesign index,and through the simulation analysis the complete machine force conditions wasconfirmed, this providing a theoretical basis for the subsequent key structural design. On thatbasis, this paper firstly finished the design of walking mechanism and focus on theslipper-floor sink at different conditions, and analysis the effect of the pipe force conditionsby the slipper lifting speed. Secondly, this paper finished the design of turning mechanism anddrag rope, and this paper solved the calculation of the drag rope, and deduce that differentdrag force and rope length have different effect on the rope’s overhanging state, in themeantime, this paper finished the fatigue strength criterion of turning arms. At last, this paperfinished the structure design of sling which have self-locking function and discussed the conefunnel’s structure and size that affect guiding, in addition, the reliability was assessed by thesimulation of sling’s working condition.The research and design of this thesis is a portion of work for the development of theengineering prototype machine of the submarine plough trench cutter, the simulation analysisresult has a significant meaning for the complete appliance design.
