Tobacco is an important cash crop in our country which has a significant role in thenational economy. Smokers in China are more than300million as of2012and theconsumption of tobacco has a great impact on people’s lives. We all know that smoking isharmful to health and the smoke will result in the air, especially indoor air pollution. Wecan’t put an end to the development and consumption of tobacco in a short period of time,so we need to improve the quality of the tobacco to reduce the harm of tobacco. Electronbeam irradiation is a kind of technology which is widely used in food production andpollution treatment. It has many advantages such as simply operated, easily controlled andnon-polluting residues etc.. In this study, we use this technology to process tobacco inorder to improve the quality of the tobacco.In this experiment, we choose three different grades of tobacco leafs for study anduse different irradiation conditions to process them. After processing, we evaluate theimpact of different irradiation conditions on the quality of tobacco by detecting the mainchemical, the rate of change and the coordination analysis, and sensory evaluation. Wealso try to find the best irradiation condition to enhance the quality of different kinds oftobacco leaves. The experimental results indicate that the appearance quality a nd themajor chemical components of tobacco have varying degrees of change with differenttypes of tobacco after irradiation. Suitable irradiation time can enhance the quality of thetobacco. When other conditions are the same, the effect on three tobacco leaves underthe condition of the electron beam energy of200keV are better than500keV. When thebeam current are2.5mA, the better effects on the quality of Kunming C2F-H are on thecondition of the electron beam energy of200keV and the irradiation time of20s, and thecondition of the electron beam energy of500keV and the irradiation time of15s; thebetter effects on the quality of Kunming BXK are on the condition of the electron beamenergy of200keV and the irradiation time of20s, and the condition of the electron beamenergy of500keV and the irradiation time of5s; the better effects on the quality ofGuiyang B2K are on the condition of the electron beam energy of200keV and the irradiation time of20s, and the condition of the electron beam energy of500keV and theirradiation time of15s.
