Assembly MBD Datasets And Assembly Process Simulation

The integrated three-dimensional model has been the sole basis in product design andmanufacturing by model based definition (MBD) technology. As an important stage inproduct manufacturing process, assembly process simulation requires a lot of assembly data.To adapt and standardize MBD technology in assembly areas, the concept of the assemblyMBD data sets has been presented, and its application in the product assembly process alsohas been displayed.In response to the information needed in the product assembling process, the conceptof assembly MBD datasets is put forward and the kind of information and specific elementsare analyzed. According to the type of information, data sources are got. Two visualizationways are investigated and constructed: the three-dimensional marked expression for thegeometry assembly information and the three-dimensional annotation expression for theattribute assembly information.In order to get the related Product information in MBD dataset, the EBOM structuraladjustment policies and specific processes are established based on product EBOM’s levelcharacteristics and the requirements of assembly simulation process, finally the ABOM isgained by the EBOM adjustment.For the MBD dataset’s Process information, the concept of simulation therblig isproposed according to the similar action in the simulation process, and which would makeup the entire product simulation. Meanwhile, the concept of partial view is presented aimingat the small part involved in the simulation process; the user completes the productsimulation process conveniently by use of its zoom display function.Finally, based on VC++6.0and Hoops software development kit, a prototype systemnamed3DSimu is developed independently. The practical product is used to validate thecorrectness and effectiveness of the MBD data sets and EBOM adjustment. At the sametime, it also verifies simulation therblig and partial view’s actual application performance.
