Licorice, as a blindly bulk herbs, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine forlong history to treat phthisis, contagious hepatitis and bronchitis, also to alleviate drugtoxicity and potent. Licorice has shown many important pharmacological activities,including the detoxification, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antitumoral,antiinflammatory, antiviral and so on. At present, over one hundred kinds of flavonoids,more than sixty kinds of triterpenoid compounds and fragrant beans, eighteen kinds ofamino acids, and a variety of alkaloids, estrogen and organic acids have been separatedfrom licorice.Figs, a high nutritional value fruit, are rich in carbohydrates, proteins, amion acids,vitamins and mineral elements. Figs have been used to treat cough, lungs, diarrhea,swelling, to nourish the brain, blood, kidney. Moreover, Figs have antioxidant, anti-cancer,bactericidal antimicrobial, antiviral and other biological activity. Figs and its productshave been classified as anti-cancer food in USA, Japan and other countries.This article used aqueous two-phase extraction technology for effective separation ofsubstances of licorice, figs, and research tyrosinase inhibitory and antioxidant activity. Wefound that the salt phase of licorice, the alcohol phase and salt phase of figs havetyrosinase inhibitory activity.The four test programs(lipid peroxidation assay, ABTS+·assay, O2-·assay and ferricreducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assay)have been used to study antioxidant activityof the aqueous two-phase extraction from licorice and figs. It is found that licorice has agood anti-lipid peroxidantion activity, the inhibitory activity of the alcohol phase is similarto quercetin. In the ABTS+·assay, the inhibition ratio of the alcohol and salt phase of theaqueous two-phase extraction from licorice can reach to100%, the IC50values is0.25mg/mL,0.15mg/mL respectively. In the O2-·assay, the alcohol phase of the aqueoustwo-phase extraction from licorice shows good inhibitory activity, the IC50value is1.05 mg/mL. In he FRAP assay, the reducing ability of the alcohol phase is very good.The antioxidant activity of the aqueous two-phase extraction from Figs is weakerthan licorice. Our research shows that the alcohol phase shows weak antioxidant activityfor inhibiting lipid peroxidation. In the ABTS·+assay, the alcohol phase and salt phaseshow activity, the IC50value is0.47mg/mL,0.44mg/mL respectively. In the O2-·assay,the alcohol phase show activity, but the IC50value is not get in the experimentalconcentration. The FRAP assay, the reducing ability of the alcohol phase is good. |
