In the background of each country active respond to develop low carbon economy, in2011, theministry of transport put forward to build low carbon transport system, and have set many pilot cities.Low-carbon refers to lower greenhouse gas emissions, mainly indicate to reduce CO2emissions. In order topromote the construction and development of low carbon transport system, and reduce transport emissionsof CO2, study the emission characteristics, influence factors and the emission reduction potential andcountermeasures has the double meaning of theory and practice.Based on the existing related literature, theoretical research and the estimate of transport CO2emissions, this paper use the method of run-through before and after to study a series of problems on theCO2emissions characteristics, influencing factors and emissions reduction potential and countermeasuresof the transportation industry. The combined qualitative with quantitative research is not simply in someaspect of the research, each part of the research is based on the former, and adopt suitable methods makethe results more targeted and relevant.Through analysis, the main conclusions in this paper are as follows.(1) Along with the developmentof the economy, transportation industry CO2emissions continue to grow in our country, but the unit addedvalue of CO2emissions, the CO2emissions intensity decreased gradually, this provides a breakthrough forreducing CO2emissions of the transportation industry.(2) Through complete factor decomposition analysis,the cause of transportation industry CO2emissions growth is mainly on the change of the added value oftransportation and transportation turnover. Reduce the CO2intensity can promote the reduction of CO2emissions, and based on this, to calculate CO2emissions reduction potential.(3) Based on the aboveanalysis, we can improve the efficiency of transportation system in our country, optimize the transportationstructure, manage the traffic demand management, strengthen the policy support and promote low-carbontransport energy conservation technology research.
