Planing surface morphology depending on a variety of factors,such as theprocessing method, marks, chips fracture deformation, material, tool and surface frictionand vibration of the machining system. The surface morphology has a great impact onwear resistance of parts, corrosion resistance, sealing, the nature of the stability andfatigue strength. Analysis of the friction material surface morphology is an importantmethod for studying the wear mechanism and wear failure form.For different wearmechanisms, we can propose measures to prevent wear. Specify and control surfacemorphology correctly has significant economic value, and its role often as good as usinga new material or a new structure, therefore friction surface morphology has greatsignificance.planing surface morphology also have some impact on the chip formation, theforming process of chip is the results of elastic and plastic deformation through thefriction between the tool and the parts. The research of planing chip deformation lawhelps to understand the degree of friction between the cutting tool and the and the cuttingforce status, to improve the planing process, improve the quality of the machined surface,increasing the cutting tool life, reduce energy and raw materials consumption and otheraspects of great significance.The main contents include the following three points:1. Use fractal theory to describe the morphology of the planing surface, The fractalcharacteristics is conclusion by experiment,and the Mathematical model of planingsurface is established by W-M function;2. Establish a chip stress analysis model considering the effects of material surfacemorphology; obtain the relationship between the chip deformation coefficient and thefractal dimension D and the characteristic scale factor G by the theoretical formuladerivation.3. Carry out planing experiment through orthogonal experiment method, and introduce anew analytical method——non-parametric statistical methods, the method can get therelationship between each factor and the chip deformation directly. Verify the presence of“micro-convex elastic supporting effect of oil film” by analyzing the chip diameter ofdifferent conditions; Identify the main factors that affect chip deformation in the case ofdifferent thickness cutting, and further to identify the critical point of the “micro-convexelastic supporting effect of oil film”.
