Study On MCC Ramu Nickle Project For A Project Management Mode Oriented By PMC

Along with the outstanding characteristic on economic globalization gradually,China’s engineering contractors play more and more important roles on internationalmarket. In recent years, EPC general contract model is the principle contracting form inoverseas project. PMC management model is adopt to manage the project during thewhole period of project which provides the platform for changing traditional projectorganizational structure into modern project organizational structure. The main purpose ofthis thesis is to promote MCC’s core competence on international market by analyzing andresearch for management model applied in Ramu Nickle project.By analyzing the case of Ramu Nickle project, the largest resource project MCCinvested abroad and Papua New Guinea’s largest resource project, the thesis study the newproject management model oriented by PMC during practical application in Ramu Nickleengineering construction under the special condition of politics, culture and geography inPapua New Guinea and make conclusion that it is necessary to apply PMC managementmodel for implementing the comprehensive and systematic project management. Thethesis discusses the beneficial attempts on management measures and improvement madeby project management model oriented by PMC and applied on Ramu Nickle project.First of all， this thesis defines the concept and connotation of EPC general contractmodel and state the structure of EPC general contract model as well as risks the modelfaces. Integrating the above-mentioned study, this thesis analyzes the concept and featureof PMC model，and make combination for PMC and EPC management model.Secondly, discuss the construct of management model oriented by PMC and appliedin MCC invested Ramu Nickle project. It includes analysis the reason why PMC projectmanagement model is adopted by Ramu Nickle project and the relationship betweenproject participants and put forward the exploration application on PMC managementmode in Ramu Nickle project—adopt critical path of Ramu Nickle project managementfor dealing with and developing local relationship.Finally, analysis Ramu Nickle management model oriented by PMC on quality, progress, HSE and risk aspects and put forward control and improvement measures forproblems existed in project management.
