With the development of the national economy, the manufacturing industry has beenvigorously, EDM as a sort of special processing is applied to various areas of industry. Thereare sinker EDM and wire cut EDM, most of the WEDM process, especially the low-speedWEDM, need to machine a micro hole at first. That means extra micro-hole EDM processbefore the WEDM process. The two processes are performed in different machines, and thework-piece clamped in two different machines, a clamping error was leaded inevitably. Forhigh-precision EDM machines, this error had been exerting a great impact on the processingaccuracy. If the perforation process can be integrated into the WEDM machine which canimprove the machining accuracy.After pre-read a large number of literatures about the aspects of micro-hole machiningand wire-cutting, according to research both of the process technology and processingequipment in-depth to analyze the feasibility of the device. Provide a theoretical basis for thedevice.In this paper, a device which installed in the LS-WEDM was designed to assistLS-WEDM machine a micro-hole. According to the particular features, the device canshare most of the resources with the LS-WEDM, for example, with the help of the servo axisof LS-EDM, the device servo position easily. This greatly simplifies the structure of thedevice. In order to make the device lighter and smaller, Article had designed mechanic partspecially. About the circuit control part, ARM board is used as the main control board in thecontrol circuit of the device. Additionally, related control circuit was designed specially. Thefourth chapter of the thesis was mainly for process engineering control. Artificial intelligenceprocess control had applied to the equipment. The fuzzy controller designed by Matlab hadloaded into the ARM development board. The end of the paper, a series of experiments wascompleted by EA12D to demonstrate the feasibility of the AI machining process control.Besides the thesis’ research, a huge amount of work was needed to put the device inapplication.
