ObjectiveEnvironmental estrogens widely exist in the environment, could enter into organism through many kinds of ways such as food chain, and affect organism by synergistic or antagonistic effects. In the presence of low concentrations, environmental estrogens can interfere the function of endocrine system, and destroy the stability and regulation system of organisms. It was also a threat to human survival and health. The purpose of this study is to find the pollution level of several environmental estrogens contamination in food in Hangzhou City. The study could not only provide the basis for the supervision and control of contaminants but could also provide references for the formulation of hygienic standard.MethodsIn the Hangzhou area,4supermarkets and4farmer’s market were chosen as the location of sampling. According to the different type of contaminations which we decide to monitor, we sampled various types of foods with a purpose during2012February to2013March in each location. Based on the detection methods of national standard,43kinds of environmental estrogens were detected by some advanced detection equipment such as LC-MS-MS. These environmental estrogens including synthetic estrogens (3), pesticides (11), plasticizer (20), polychlorinated biphenyl (7) and heavy metals (2). Test data were analyzed by SPSS software finally, and compared with the monitoring results of history and other areas to know the pollution situation of environmental estrogens in food in Hangzhou area.Results1. Pesticides:The detection rate of pesticides was14.7%in grain, vegetable and fruit samples. Most of the detected pesticides were organophosphates, cypermethrin and Kelthane. The detection rate in farmer’s market was greater than that in the supermarkets, and it was diverse in different seasons (third quarter>second quarter>fourth quarter>first quarter). The detection rate was24.2%in tea, and most of the detected pesticides were pyrethroid. The pesticide residues detected in autumn tea was greater than that in spring tea.2. Plasticizer:The detection rate of plasticizer was high in all kinds of foods. The highest detection rate of plasticizer was DEHP and DNOP(>70.0%), followed by DBP(>60.0%). The maximum contents of DEHP and DNOP detected in food were29.2mg/kg and13.9mg/kg, respectively. DEHP and DBP in food were dramatically exceeded the GB standards by54.8%and61.3%.3. Polychlorinated biphenyl:The detection rate of7indicator PCBs in dairy produces was low. The total content of7PCBs in each food sample was below10.0μg/kg, and the content of each PCBs was below2.0μg/kg.4. Synthetic estrogen:Diethylstilbestrol, dienestrol and hexestrol were not detected in meat products.5. Heavy metals:The mean value of Pb in food was0.12mg/kg, and Pb in5.96%of food sample was exceeded the GB standard. Pb in the preserved eggs, freshwater fish and baked fried food samples was exceeded the GB standard by27.3%,20.0%and14.3%, respectively. Cd in3.45%of food sample was exceeded the GB standard, and it has high pollution level in pig kidney sample with the mean value of0.96mg/kg. Cd in rice, pig kidney and preserved eggs samples was exceeded the GB standard by16.0%,15.8%and9.09%, respectively.ConclusionThe pollution of environmental estrogens, especially the plasticizer, were widely exist in foods in Hangzhou. The current situation is not satisfactory. The pollution of pesticide residues comparing with other regions was not serious with a acceptable detection rate. Heavy metal pollution in foods in Hangzhou was not serious neither, although some kinds of foods fail to reach the GB standard. The pollution levels of polychlorinated biphenyl and synthetic estrogen were not serious in foods in Hangzhou...
