The Study Of River Ecological Engineering Methods Which Integrate The Tibetan Culture Elements

Rivers breed the development of life and culture. As a consequence of highly developedeconomy in China in the last30years, not only the river systems are seriously polluted, butalso the worse air quality and more deteriorate living conditions in the cities. Considering thatthere is little case of river ecological restoration which encompass culture, we studied theurban area of Lhasa River in order to develop the river function of inherit culture. We tookfield investigations, social investigations and read lots of litera ture, discussed two mainproblems:(1) problems existing in the management of Lhasa River;(2) screening andexpressing of the symbols of the Tibetan culture;(3) methods of ecological river restorationwhich compromises the Tibetan culture. Some technology have transformed to a nationalinvention patent. The results are expect to enrich the theories of restoration ecology, providinga referring technology method of the construction of ecology civilization and ecological riverrestoration in China. Thus, it’s of vitalscientific value and significance.Major achievements we have made are as follows:（1）Find out the main problem in the restoration of Lhasa River, i.e. cut off theconnection between aquatic ecosystem and terrestrial ecosystem; hinder the interactionbetween human and river; prevent the inherit of the Tibetan culture.（2）Screen out some representative symbols of the Tibetan culture, such as auspiciousdharma wheel, pisces and sutra flag.（3）Put forward the eco-engineering technology methods of riparian zone, river bankand river bed based on the principle of eco-engineering which is for the benefit of both natureand human.
