The gear whose diameter is micrometer grade is very important part of the preciseinstrument and micro mechanical and electrical products. The higher accuracyrequirement is very strict. Because of their size is very small and their use value.Roundness error measurement on the properties of precision instrument and equipmentis an important part of the evaluation. It is one of the important indicators of the parts’geometric accuracy.it has a direct impact on the function Efficiency and safe operation,of the equipment. In this paper, we put the application of the measurement of roundnessto the gear of micron level. It is a very useful application. On the basis of the techniquein the general roundness measuring,we make the positioning more accurate. At thesame time we find the addendum circle of the micro gear. And make an accuratemeasurement to it. in this practical application,This problem is a bottleneck of manyprecision instruments of measuring. If we use the traditional instrument measuringmethod, because of the reason of the load, it will cause serious damage to the tip of thegear, at the same time it also can cause the deformation of gear tip. The most importantthing is the traditional roundness measuring methods error is very big.. Now we use thecomputer image technology for this important measurement, in the application of microgear it is more widely and important. After we did the basic step of denoisingprocessing of images, we will get the gray scale image, then do the gray histogramanalysis. According to the situation we do the gray stretch or gray balance. According tothe edge we get, and combined with the edge of the least-square circle method andimage recognition technology to the measured object addendum circle for roundnessmeasuring.
