In the past few decades, design, synthesis and DNA or RNA cleavage activity ofthe dinuclear complexes have been drawing more and more attention because it canbe used as biological activity and DNA structure probes and chemotherapeuticanticancer drugs. The design and construction of the complexes with intriguingarchitectures have attracted great attention not only because of their intrinsic aestheticappeal but also because of their potential applications as functional materials. In orderto create functional materials useful for applications in various areas (such asbiological medical treatment, EPR properties, magnetic, sensors, DNA cleavage,electrochemistry, metalloprotein and fluorescent probe and so on), rational design ofstructures with control of network topology is very important. Currently, people hasbeen syntheticed the dinuclear manganese complex, the dinuclear zinc complex, thedinuclear copper complex, the dinuclear cadmium complex, and so forth. Thesecomplexes have potential medical value, because it can damage DNA helical chain,this thesis also introduced the effect of DNA cleavage activity of dinuclear coppercomplex. Six novel crystals structure were synthesized by single carboxylate ligands1-(3-benzoate) anthraquinone and1-(4-benzoate) anthraquinone in this thesis, andalso studied relevant properties of these crystals. This thesis is divided into fourchapters.In the first chapter, we introduced the research progress of the dinuclearcomplexes and the progress made in this topic.In the second chapter, three complexes,[Cd2(L1)4(H2O)4]·H2O(1),[Mn2(L1)4(H2O)4]·H2O(2) and [Cu2(L2)4(H2O)2]·DMF·H2O(3) have been successfullyconstructed by1-(3-benzoate) anthraquinone and1-(4-benzoate) anthraquinone undersame solvent conditions, in crystal3, HL2ligand adopting four bidentate coordinationmode to generate a well-known paddlewheel second building unit(SBU). This thesisintroduced anti-ferromagnetic of complex2and3, the DNA cleavage activity of thecomplex3.In the third chapter, three complexes,[2(L1)6·2DMF](4),[Tb2(L1)6·2DMF](5),and [Yb2(L1)6·2DMF](6), successfully have been constructed by1-(3-benzoate)anthraquinone under same solvent conditions. Single crystal X-ray diffractionindicated that complexes4,5and6are isostructural crystals, are interdigitated catenulate complexes frameworks, they are1D windmill type coordination chains.In the conclusion, this thesis has summarized the structures of the three dinuclearcomplexes and the three one dimensional chain complexes, and discussed DNAcleavage activity of the complex3and the effect of solvent system in the constructionof the complexes. The research provided a new route for the design and constructionof the complexes with novel topologies.
