Affected by the economic globalization and trade liberalization, the national traditionalculture has been the impact of various cultures, inheriting and developing national traditionalculture has a long way to go. Uighur nationality as a nationality whose population ranks fifthin the minority nation in China, its furniture characteristics is an important part of nationalculture. Carrying on a thorough study to Uygur traditional furniture to promote it fromtraditional to modern, from China to the world, is of great significance to carry forward thenational culture. And it not only can provide a theoretical basis for the modernization of theantique traditional furniture, but also to provide ideas and methods for developing nationalculture.In this paper, the author combined with own life experiences in Xinjiang and fieldresearch to collect a large number of first-hand data. Analyzed the style characteristics ofXinjiang Uygur traditional furniture and the inheritance attribute of furniture and interiordecoration, the building from the viewpoint of shape, color, decorative, structure andprocessing etc. Combined with the natural environment, historical culture, religious belief andother factors in Xinjiang to analyze the influence factors and content in the formation ofUygur furniture style. In addition, the author through a lot of research picture and dataextracted typical Uygur national symbol. And combined with the status quo of contemporaryUighur furniture, in the perspective of design, put forward the ideas of how to inherit, developand innovate in traditional furniture today.Through the research, to modernize Uygur traditional furniture should do: keep the soulof Uighur culture and typical national symbol "unchanged"; On the basis of the "revival"traditional handicraft, use new material and new technology, and combining the Uygurmodern life style, to redesign its new features and new functionality;"Abandon" thetraditional concept and the traditional form eliminated by the times uncompromisingly. At thesame time, should also pay attention to the collaborative development in design, material,structure and process, as well as the same strain in architecture, interior, furniture. From aview of modernization to achieve Uygur traditional furniture of improved design and modernfurniture of Uygur stylized design.
