It is connected with a large diversity of physical properties of Al-TM-RE intermetallics and alloys. The good transportation properties, large amorphous forming ability, different low temperature magnetic characteristic, and large magnetocaloric effect make them potentially useful for technical application. The investigation on the phase diagram of the Al-TM-RE systems plays an important role of development of the material, scientific research and technological application. In this work, we investigated the line compounds and solid solution phases, and the phase equilibium relationship of Al-Fe-RE (RE=Nd, Gd and Y) systems at773K by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive analysis (EDX) and optical microscopy (OM). The whole isothermal sections of Al-Fe-RE (RE=Nd, Gd and Y) systems at773K were constructed. Although the discrepancy of characteristics for different RE element, they show much similarity in the form of Al-Fe-RE compounds. Due to the substitution between Al and Fe, the compouds (Al,Fe)12RE,(Al,Fe)2RE, and Fe17-xAlxRE2present appreciable homogeneity range. All this work will supply useful information for thermodynamic property of Al-Fe-RE systems and theoretical understanding of materials design and manufacture. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Intermetallics, Solid solubility, Phase equilibria, Isothermal section | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
