Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is self-assembled coordination polymer of metal ionswith multidentate organic ligands containing oxygen and nitrogen atoms. MOFs haveattracted much attention owing to their intriguing molecular topologies and potentialapplications as functional materials, such as gas absorption, molecular magnetism, catalysis, ion exchange and nonlinear optics. It is a widely recognized strategy to synthesize the metal-organic frameworks with novel structure using new polynuclear clusters as secondarybuilding units (SBUs).In the dissertation, we have introduced in detail the synthetic conditions, structuralfeatures, thermal stability, photocatalytic properties of the MOFs based on cyclic-typepolynuclear copper clusters. We have successfully synthesized two new metal-organicframeworks by the solvothermal reaction of copper salts, Hpz and H3BTC ligands,(Me4N)6[Cu12(OMe)6(pz)6(BTC)6]18H2O (1) and (Me4N)6[Cu12(OH)6(pz)6(BTC)6]21H2O (2)(pz=pyrazolate, BTC=1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate). Compounds1and2are metal-organicframeworks based on cyclic Cu12clusters, which represent the rare examples of metal-organicframeworks constructed by cyclic units with large internal cavity bigger than1nm diameter.In1and2, each Cu12unit is connected to12other units by BTC linkers, leading to12-connected three-dimensional porous frameworks. The photocatalytic investigationindicates that compound2exhibits photocatalytic activity for the degradation of RhB.
