| Environmental issues due to emissions of greenhouse gases from combustion of fossil fuelshave become global problems. Among these greenhouse gases, CO2makes up the highestproportion in respect of its amount present in the atmosphere. In addition, CO2is of great usein chemical industries. So it is crucial to separate CO2from atmosphere. In this paper, trendsand technologies for carbon dioxide emission reduction and resource-oriented utilizationwere put forward. Among these technologies, Ca-based sorbent is identified to be one of thebest candidates for CO2capture. In this study, two different methods were used to synthesizethe Ca-based sorbents, and the synthesized sorbents were modified by doping MgO. Theperformance of the sorbents was investigated. The results indicated that the carbonationconversion of the synthesized sorbents were much higher than that of the traditional CaOsorbent after10carbonation/calcination cycles. |
