Waterborne coating is an inevitable trend of the development of coating. Thereare still lots of defects in the waterborne coating systems, which have influence on theapplication of the coatingļ¼Œespecially heavy-duty corrosion protection coating. So it isnecessary to research a kind of coating with good corrosion resistance, mechanicalproperties and good adhesion to substrate.A new two-component high molecular weight waterborne epoxy coating wasprepared in this study. A kind of macromolecule emulsifier was synthesized, whichcan emulsify high molecular weight epoxy resin and modified epoxy-amine curingagent. The optimum reaction conditions were discussed, the solubility of theemulsifier was analyzed, structure of the emulsifier was characterized by Fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR); thermodynamic property and curingtemperature was analyzed by DSC, curing process was observed with TEM. Coatingformula was discussed, and the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of thepaint were tested. The results indicated that high molecular weight epoxy emulsion was preparedafter dispersing in water, and the system with a particle size468nm has a goodstability. A kind of epoxy-modified polyamine B curing agent emulsion with particlesize177nm was obtained. The system has low curing temperature, and thecondensates have good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The result ofFTIR showed there remain lots of primary amine and secondary amine. The results ofTEM showed the process of the fusion of the two particles. The results of the DSCshowed the system could cure at room temperature.
