The rural areas are engaged in agricultural production by workers where has agreat dependence on the natural environment and resources. In recent years, theecological environment of rural areas has been severely damaged and the domesticpollution got serious, What’s worse, the agricultural nonpoint source pollution has beenexacerbated; the sewage from township’s enterprises has not reach the standard as welland the mode of the energy use got out of date, and so forth, All these problemsmentioned above have constrained the rural eco-sustainable development. Therefore,carrying out a research for ecological sustainability of rural areas and promoting avirtuous cycle of rural ecosystem has become an extremely urgent duty at present.The article takes Xinglong Town of Bayan County as the research object.According to the regional ecosystem features and the theories of eco-sustainabledevelopment, the indicator system that contains four levels and20indicators was builtwith the mode of pressure-state-response. All the data have been standardized by themembership function. And the weight of every index was given through the greycorrelation analysis. While by using weighting function method, the composite index ofthe ecological sustainability in Xinglong Town has calculated from2006to2010andthe result was used to evaluate the ecological sustainability in Xinglong Town. Afterthat, this article used the gray forecasting methods to predict the trends of the ecologicalsustainability in Xinglong Town from2011to2020. At the end of the day, by usingortbogonal test, the best planning development objectives of the indicators in2020havebeen simulated, and the methods of improving the ecological sustainability in XinglongTown have been discussed.The ecological sustainability index in Xinglong Town increased from0.606in2006to0.636in2010, the ecological sustainability in Xinglong town has constantlybeen in the moderate level, had an increasing trend. During this period, a stabledevelopment of the economic and continuously improvement of the citizen’s qualityoccurred. What’s more, pollution control and green building has achieved a certaindegree of progress, but agricultural nonpoint source pollution is still increasinglyserious. Using the gray forecasting model to predict the ecological sustainability inXinglong Town from2006to2010, the result showed that, the ecological sustainabilityindex in Xinglong Town had a sharp increase from0.639in2012to0.681in2013, thendecreased slowly in the following days, By2020, the ecological sustainability index fellto0.675, the predicted results were not optimistic, As a whole, the ecologicalsustainability of Xinglong Town had a moderate level. By the ortbogonal test, the best planning value of the index in2020were simulated, To2020, Only by increasingcomprehensive utilization ratio of straw to70%; increasing public green area percapita to5m2; improving the ratio of environmental investment to GDP to1.1%,respectively, and increasing the imposed weight of fertilizers and pesticides per kmagricultural land were reduced to349kg/ha and14kg/ha, the forest cover to9%,Xinglong Town can achieve a higher coordination of socio-economic development andenvironmental protection. The ecological sustainability have an upward trend from2011to2020and will increase to0.766.Based on the characteristics of Xinglong Town, five recommendations improvingthe ecological sustainability index were proposed. It is recommended that increasingStraw comprehensive utilization technology; increasing environmental investment;controling agricultural nonpoint source pollution; enhancing greeng construction;strengthening environmental education and promotion.
