In this paper, cold crucible directional solidification technology was combined with the cold crucible levitation melting.By using3D harmonic electromagnetic field analysis module of the Ansys finite element simulation software, calculate the electromagnetic field was calculated. Then the Crucible structure has been optimized.Physical environments method in Ansys software helps us calculate the cold crucible induction heating.By Comparing the temperature field of different circumstances,such as different coils different base heights and different currents,we get the more appropriate process parameters.The levitation cold crucible for directional solidification and bottom drain cold crucible for casting was designed and manufactured.we got the electromagnetic field distribution of the two crucible without TiAl alloys by using Small coil method.Then the temperature calculation was proved by melting the base.the composition of Ti-46A1-2Cr-2Nb TiAl was chosen for our research.the experiments of different process parameters by using the new crucible.Through Observing the ingot surface morphology and directional solidification macro-organization, we got the new Crucible was more efficient, The skull became smaller and directional solidification microstructure became more straight.The microstructures of Ti-46A1-2Cr-2Nb TiAl alloy slab ingots was observed and analyzed with optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The microstructures development of initial solidification area was researched.solid-liquid interface morphology and dendrite growth conditions of different processing parameters, we compared the influence of process parameters on the directional solidification of the steady-state growth zone microstructure.The composition of precipitates in the directional solidification microstructure and Phenomenon of Columnar grains transform into equiaxed grains was also studied.
