Xulou iron mine located in the Yangtze River polymetallic metallogenic belt.The Yangtze River region is one of China’s major mineral base, where occur a greatnumber of skarn deposits. Skarn deposits is the most important type of deposit in theregion.This article is on the basis of collection, collation and analysis previous research.Understand regional geology, mineral deposits and mineral processing technology ofXulou iron mine. Combine petrological, Mineralo-graphical, mineralogical andpetrogeochemistry, the following understanding has been made:(1)Analysis of geochemical characteristics of iron ore, intrusions andsurrounding rocks, which collected in Xulou iron mine. The following are majorachievement obtained: intrusions formed in a reducing environment of the EarlyCambrian period; intrusions are neutral diorite, belong to deep originated; accordingore Ce:0.83~1.00, ore deposits of Xulou iron mine derived form the environment ispart of the oxidation-reduction environment and genesis of deposit relatedhydrothermal activity.(2)Under the condition of high temperature, contain less iron of neutral andacid rocks can separate out iron material for forming Skarn iron deposits. Studiesshow that content of Fe in the region around the carbonatite deposit higher than in thein peripheral regions of Xulou iron mine, we can know that origin of Fe element ismagamatic rocks rather than cabonate rocks.(3)Based on the graphic elements as well as points for the distribution of data,Xulou iron mine belong to contact metasomatism of skarn deposits.(4)Analysing composition and phase of Xulou iron mine’s tailings andCalculating a watershed for the quality of tailings recovery, this article can obtain an achievement: tailings recovery of Xulou iron mine is economic value, the studies ontailings for building materials and Soil improvers are available research directions.
