Optical correlation technology is an important application in target recognition field. Fourier transform properties of optical lens are applied in the technology so that correlation operation can be complete at almost the speed of light and in parallel. The target can be recognized and detected by this way.LLL (Low-Light-Level) target detection and recognition have been paid more and more attentions because of the huge development prospects in military field. Due to the rapid development of the optical correlation technology, it is possible to detection and recognition LLL target by use Joint Transform Correlator. However, because of its low contrast and low signal-to-noise ratio characteristics LLL targets will be recognized difficultly. According to the LLL image characteristics, the wavelet transform is used in LLL target image processing with threshold de-noising, enhancement and edge extraction. After processing the LLL image, the noise can be suppressed and the characteristic information of the target is enhanced. According to the characteristics of the control system which in the miniaturization joint transform correlator, a processing algorithms based on lifting wavelet transform is researched. From the optical experimental and the computer simulation results, it is concluded that this two methods can recognize LLL target effectively and expand Joint Transform Correlator of application to the LLL field.
