ABSTRACT:Due to the development of cities, transportation systems increasingly heavy burden. On the one hand, the increasing urban population led to increasing traffic demand. On the other hand, the inner-city space which can be used to improve traffic instruction is becoming more precious. In this situation, improving traffic management system and transport services has become an important issue of traffic management departments. The purpose of this article is to assist traffic management departments to improve urban traffic conditions and provide a theoretical basis for dynamic traffic guidance information. The main contents are as follows.A modified point queue model is proposed and coded in computer. A dynamic route guidance program module is embedded and some guidance strategies are testified in this system. Good simulation results are achieved by applying the modified model.Information models and route choice models of word-based and status-based variable message sign are presented. Two different situations, static information known and unknown are considered in this model. Some numerical experiments are proposed and the results are compared and analyzed. The simulation results show that better effects are obtained by word-based variable message sign with static information unknown and status-based variable message sign with static information known.A travel time based iterative guidance strategy aiming the veracity of guidance information is introduced. The generating algorithm of this strategy is proposed and some other travel time based guidance strategies are also implemented and the number results are discussed. The results of numerical experiments show that the information achieved by iterative guidance strategy aiming the veracity of guidance information are more accurate than information obtained by feedback guidance strategy.
