Computational Linguistics is an interdiscipline, which cross Linguistics, Mathematics, Computer science. It through establishing mathematical model to analysis natural language, and using computer programs to handle the data, in order to take the use of machine to simulate the ability of part or all of human language. The word "Computational Linguistics" appeared in the report "languages and machines", which is written by ALPAC Committee in1966. In recent years, with the innovation of the computer technology and the diversification of the statistics, Computational Linguistics develops rapidly. One of the methods is counting on the Function Words’frequency in the author’s writing, which helps us to judge the writing period of a paper and its author. The thesis firstly introduces the background of counting on the Function Words’frequency in the author’s writing to judge his/her writing period and style, then introduces how to choice the Function Words, and the source of the data. For ensuring the rationality and accuracy of the data, the data has been pretreated. According to the hypothesis that the Function Words is relating to the author’s writing period and style, a model was established and a way to estimate the model parameters was given. At last, the thesis gave some examples to test the model and analyze the results.
