The rock crushing capacity of coring driller is a key to accomplish theautomated drilling and coring mission in lunar exploration of china. So rotarypercussive drilling is an effective way to improve the rock crushing capacity ofsampling drill. This paper puts the rock crusher mechanism under rotary-percussivedrilling, the generation and optimization of impact progress as the main line. Thetheoretical analysis, simulation and experiment of impact system will be researched.The cutting mechanics model between drilling tool and lunar rock is built onthe base of tensile fragmentation criteria of brittle rock, which is in fullconsideration of drilling configuration parameters. The influence of drillingparameters, such as invasion depth and penetrating force, on horizontal cutting forceis obtained by analyzing of the mechanics model. The influence which impact forcefunction on invasion depth is also acquired by molding the impact dynamics modelbetween drilling bit and rocks. The numerical simulation and experimental study isconducted to verify the correctness of the model.For the impact mechanism of sampling device, the contact between hammershape and stress wave-shape is obtained by modeling the progress of the impact ofhammer and drilling rod. By using the principle of maximum energy transferefficiency, the stress wave-shape is optimized as well as the shape of hammer. Thetransfer efficiency and its factors in the progress of drill into rocks are also acquired.The simulation about impact and drilling progress is conducted by using LS-DYNA,which can compare the optimal results with the primary results.The influence of impact parameters, such as impact energy and impactfrequency, on rock drilling results is researched via experimental in this paper. Theexperimental on the influence of single-parameters as well as Multi-parameter isconducted in the constant force and constant speed drilling mode respectively, whichcan provide the basis for design and optimal of drill sampling device.The results How the impact parameters influenced on the rock crushing in thispaper contribute to the Lunar surface sampling task of china.
