In this paper, guided by the theories of mineralogy, structural geology, geochemistryand metallogeny etc., Dongping gold deposit is further studied based on the formerresearches to ascertain the characteristics of orebody, discuss the metallogenic type andmodel, mineralization and genesis of deposit, and summarize the metallogenic regularity,ore-controlling factors and indicators for deposit for the metallogenic prognosis andprospecting direction.This paper discusses the regional metallogenic geological background, geologicalfeatures of orefield and characteristics of gold-bearing altered rock in Dongping golddeposit, and also studies the geological characteristics of gold deposit and orebody, featuresof ore including structure, texture, types, mineral composition and wall-rock alteration. It isshown that the metallogenic material is of multi-source by the geochemical features ofdeposit, and characterized by mantle source based on the sulfur isotopic compositionintimately associated to gold mineralization and the hydrogen and oxygen isotopiccomposition of quartz inclusions. The source of metallogenic material is considered to havea direct relationship with Yanshanian magmatic activity. It is concluded that Dongping golddeposit is indirectly and organically associated to Shuiquangou complexes based on themetallogenic characteristics and the analysis for fluid inclusions and stable isotopes. Thesouthern contact zone of complexes in which the minerogenetic conditions of oreoccurrences including Honghuabei, Wangzifu, Sandaohe etc. is similar to that of Dongpinggold deposit and the buried fractures act as migration pathways, is important section toprospect Dongping-type gold deposit.
