With the popularity of civil Satellite navigation system is more and more deeplyinto people’s lives. Both in car navigation, traffic management and in the field ofnational defense and security, The satellite navigation system is more and more widely.At the same time due to the development of embedded technology, hand-held satellitenavigation terminal has also become a hot spot of the development of the field ofsatellite navigation.In view of the navigation terminal require a higher processing speed and simpleoperation, this topic select S3C2440processor and Linux operating system forembedded development platform, and design a satellite positioning terminal equipmentbased on Beidou system.Firstly,the thesis give a detailed introduction on embeddeddevelopment theory and the basic principles of satellite navigation and positioning, anddescribe NEMA-0183protocol. Secondly, According to the actual needs of thenavigation system, select the appropriate system hardware modules, give a detaileddescription of each module,the system consists of a control module based onS3C2440,compass UM220module and wireless transmission module GTM900-C. Onthe software side,build embedded Linux development environment, including theBootLoader transplanting, Linux kernel porting,construction of the file system and thetransplantation of Qt etc.,and carry out a detailed research of touch screen driverporting process. Then focus on the system’s application programming,including Linuxserial communication, satellite positioning module, wireless transmission module andembedded electronic map design, especially in-depth analysis MapInfo to build a digitalmap database based on SQLite for storing the detailed information of the map.By the end of the experimental test the system is able to complete thepositioning,and send location information to phone through the GPRS/GSM network.
