In these years, as a branch of mathematics, statistics have been widely applied ineducational psychology, economics, sociology and other fields. Analysis of the datais no longer as a new word appears in people’s daily life, fully mining and analysisdata can help people to explore things’ essence deeply and grasp the objective lawshiding in things more clearly,then we can have a more scientific, systematic, reasonableexplanation for its development trend and direction.This paper mainly discusses how to establish linear regression models applied to theanalysis of student achievement. Rational analysis of student achievement can provideteachers, schools and the administrative departments of education a reliable referencebasis. It is of great significance for the future teaching and the teaching reform. Throughthe survey, we know that most of the student achievement data is idle, so the informationhidden behind the data has not been fully tapped and effectively utilized.We selected three scores of students in five schools randomly to analysis, in order touse statistics to explore the linear regression model in dealing with student achievement.R software is used to get descriptive statistics of the sample data, and then we can havea preliminary understanding about the overall distribution of the data. It is of great helpto get ready for the next step to establish reasonable model. According to the specificproblems, we use R software to analysis the data from the perspective of students andschools to establish different linear regressions models to get the final conclusion.From the perspective of student, we use regression models to discusses the exam-ination result, students’ gender, school type, etc.; Using simulated test scores predictthe university entrance exam score; From the perspective of school, using the respectiveresiduals and intercepts estimate the quality of school teaching and students ranking, theprediction results can provide a reliable reference basis for high school evaluation.
