Comparison On Spermatophyte Flora Between Fujian And Taiwan

Fujian and Taiwan face each other across the sea, their flora is closely linked. This studycarried out a comparative study on the spermatophyte,woody spermatophyte as well as coastalspermatophyte flora between Fujian and Taiwan from the components, geographical elements,ecological groups and other aspects of the spermatophyte flora in these two places and alsoanalysised the continental of the endemic plants flora in Taiwan.Then it discussed the essentialcharacteristics of the spermatophyte flora, flora relationship, the nature of Taiwan flora and so on.The main results are as follows:(1) There are182families1137genera and3603species of spermatophytes in Fujian, while197families1263genera and4266species in Taiwan.Nationally，the number of spermatophytefamilies in Fujian accounted for60.46%, compared to Taiwan, where spermatophyte occupied65.45%. The flora in Fujian and Taiwan both occupied an important position in the country’s flora.The flora in Fujian-Taiwan Region has high similarity in the composition of main dominantfamilies and closely relationship. In Fujian and Taiwan, families of tropical distribution took up73.61%and70.89%, while those of temperate distribution accounted for24.31%and26.58%ofthe total, respectively. The floristic composition of spermatophyte families is very similar in thesetwo places, that is, tropical plants are dominated. Genera of tropical distribution occupied60.34%and66.21%, those of temperate distribution24.10%and22.47%of the total. Floristic elements ofFujian and Taiwan spermatophyte genera are mainly tropical and sub-tropical distribution, whichshowed up the feature of tropical nature, but Taiwan’s tropical nature is stronger than Fujian. Thereare166families,841genera,1163species in these two places, The similarity of families andgenera in Fujian-Taiwan Region are very high, accounted for91.21%and73.97%respectively.That means the flora in these two places is closely related.（2）There are111families,477genera,1761species of woody plants in Fujian, whileTaiwan has111families,483genera, and1675species. They have99families,326genera and422species in common. The similarity coefficient of families, genera and species are89.2%,67.9%and24.6%respectively. About the number of woody plants in Fujian and Taiwan, genera oftropical distribution occupied63.11%and72.93%, Taiwan woody plants tropical elements aremore obvious than Fujian..Which compared with Fujian, the main tree species, constructivespecies and dominant species in Northern Taiwan and mountain areas have a high similarity.（3）There are72families217genera and301species of coastal spermatophytes in Fujian,while90families238genera and335species in Taiwan. The number of the main families ofcostal spermatophytes in these two places is roughly the same. The similarity of the major component of costal spermatophytes species in this region on shore sand ecological groups,halophytic wetland ecological groups, bedrock coast and coastal forest ecological groups is low.Families of tropical distribution accounted for56.95%and74.45%, those of temperate distributionmade up13.87%and16.67%of the total, respectively. It can obviously seen that the tropicalelements are dominant in floristic elements costal spermatophytes families in Fujian and Taiwan.Genera of tropical distribution occupied77.96%and80.29%, those of temperate distribution18.28%and17.07%of the total, respectively. Floristic elements of Fujian and Taiwan coastalspermatophyte genera are mainly tropical and sub-tropical distribution. The similarity coefficientof species is78.5%in Fujian and Northern Taiwan, they linked closely. But with Southern Taiwan,the coefficient is low.（4）There are121families,483genera, and1237species of endemic plants in Taiwan.Among all of the plants, gymnosperm includes6families,12genera and18species, whileangiosperm has115families,472genera and1219species. The endemic spermatophytes inTaiwan showed the nature of the origin of flora in tropical areas. The main life form of endemicspermatophytes in Taiwan is herbaceous plants(58.69%), while the proportion of woody plants(41.31%)was small. There are108families and354genera of Taiwan endemic spermatophytesbelonged to families and genera distributed in Fujian，which accounted for89.26%and73.29%oftotal, Taiwan had close contact with Fujian and the mainland in endemic flora The flora ofendemic plants has strong continental islands nature in Taiwan.This paper extracted coastal seed plant list, woody plants list and endemic seed plants list oftwo places, analysis the continental flora of Taiwan. Analysis results showed that the flora of thetwo areas spermatophytes have high similarity in every aspect, Taiwan is a continental island. In acertain degree revealed the characteristics of plant association between Fujian and Taiwan,provided further evidence materials Taiwan flora and the China floristic related, Has a certainreference value to river ecological system maintenance and ensure the long-term use of plantresources on both sides.
